Hai-Hsin Huang Taiwan, b. 1984
Lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Huang Hai Hsin studied at the National Taiwan University of Taipei. Later, she received a mater’s degree in Fine Arts from The School of Visual Arts in New York. Also, she did artist residency at Japan, Germany, Finland, and the United States.
Hai Hsin’s painting and drawings express, through humor, the banalities and absurdities inherent in contemporary everyday life; her work depicts the reality and the ideals that we have imagined of this everyday nature. Hai Hsin’s paintings seek to convey the frustrating experiences she herself had as an immigrant; but, at the same time, it depicts the beauty of life and the fragility of humanity.
Hai Hsin has held solo shows at Art Basel, Hong Kong; Capsule Shanghai, Shanghai; Aura Gallery, Taipei; Museum of Fine Arts, Leipzig; Gallery 456, New York; VT Art Salon, Taipei; ISE Culture Foundation, New York, among others. Her work was presented in group shows at the Ju Ming Museum, Taipei; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Seoul Museum, Seoul; National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, and Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei.
