Didier Pierre Chamizo France, b. 1951
Chamizo taught himself to paint and design. His first design exhibition was held at Maison de la Culture de Saint-Etienne in 1968. In the 1990s he worked in mural painting and helped to organized a collective exhibition in the prisons of Lyon and de Créteil.
Chamizo’s work have an immediately recognizable style. His style is figurative and comes from street art, from graffiti and tag art. His paintings criticize the consumerist from everyday life from different perspectives such as social, political, philosophical and aesthetical. He synthesizes this everyday experiences into suggestive symbols.
He has exhibited his work at several galleries in Paris, such as Galerie Seine 51, Galerie Caroline Bober, Art Jingle Contemporary, Galerie Volchkova, Galerie Lucie Weill et Seligmann, among others; in Lyon at Galerie Chomarat; and in Cannes at Galerie Viecelli. He has also had exhibits at La Binotti Gallery and Opera Gallery in New York and at Momentum Art Gallery, Belgium.
