Martin Di Girolamo Aegentina, b. 1965
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1965.
Lives and works in Buenos Aires.
Di Girolamo studied at Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón. He has received grants from the Kuitca Fundación PROA and Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Buenos Aires. He has also been awarded the Prize Konex Artes Visuales, Quinquenio 1997-2001.
His work is based on women’s image within contemporary society. Di Girolamo works with internet images that come from publicity contexts aimed at creating needs dealing with success and consumerism.
Some of his individual exhibits are the Galería Scott Richards Contemporary Art, San Francisco; Stand Connect Art Galery, Zurich; Galeria Baro Cruz, Sao Paolo, and in Buenos Aires, at Centro Cultural Recoleta and Galería Ruth Benzacar. He has had group exhibits at several art fairs such as Art Basel Miami, ARCO, ArteBA, X Bienal de La Habana, Cuba; Dakar Biennial, Senegal; and, in Buenos Aires at Museo de Arte Moderno and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, among others.
His work is included in collecctions such as Colección Banco Ciudad de Buenos Aires; The Katzen Collection, Bailey’s Crossroads; Louis K. Meisel, New York, and The Charles Martignette Collection, Florida.
