Mariana Magdaleno
Lives and Works in Mexico City.
She studied Plastic Arts at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado La Esmeralda, Mexico City, and then studied drawing, serigraphy, and performance. She received the scholarship from Jóvenes Creadores, FONCA, Mexico. Her work evokes nature, especially animals, and is influenced by fables and her love of cartoons. Her clear lined drawings connect childhood innocence with animal attributes, the sinister with the child-like.
She has had many individual exhibits in Mexico City, such as at the Galería Breve; the Museo Universitario del Chopo, the Ex Teresa Arte Actual, and the Galería La Refaccionaria, and collective at the Museo de Arte Moderno, the Galería Oscar Román, the Museo de la Ciudad, and the Centro Cultural de España.
Her international exhibits include the International Contemporary Art Fair, San Diego, California; ARTEBA Buenos Aires; the Red Bull Collection, Salzburg; and The Galleries Show, Belgium.
