Cisco Jimenez Mexico, b. 1969
Lives and works in Morelos, Mexico.
Jiménez studied at Instituto Regional de Bellas Artes, Cuernavaca, Morelos, and then he studied Industrial Design at Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana, Mexico City, and in the Art Students League, New York, he is also member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores, FONCA (2014-2016).
His work includes painting, sculpture, drawing and installation and is characterized by recontextualising traditional Mexican iconography within a contemporary context.
The individual exhibitions of his work have been in venues like ARTPACE Foundation, San Antonio, Texas; Lynn Goode Gallery, Houston; Museo Palacio de Cortez, Cuernavaca; Galería OMR, Mexico City; Galería Camargo Vilaca, São Paulo, Brazil; Associated American Artists, New York; Glería Fucares, Madrid, Spain; Museo de arte moderno, Mexico City; and the Museo de arte contemporáneo, Oaxaca. He has also had many group exhibits such as in collaboration with Jimmie Durham at the Venice Biennale; Montréal Biennale; and FIAL 94 Brussels.
His work is part of the collections of Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City, and Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), UNAM, among other institutions and private collections.
