Hans Scheib Germany, b. 1949
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Germany. He has received awards such as the Egmont Schaefer Award for Drawing, and the Supporting Award for the Arts, Academy of Arts, Berlin.
Scheib is best known for his wooden and bronze sculptures, though he has also produced remarkable drawings, woodcuts and lithographs, as well as a series of paper cuttings. Each of his wooden sculptures and silkscreen prints demonstrates a dynamic suspended moment of figures that embody sensuality with mixtures of fearless and contemplative sensibilities.
His work has been presented in exhibitions at Anna Zorina Gallery, New York; Arte Istanbul, Turkey; National Museum Brasilia, Brazil; Museum Junge Kunst, Frankfurt; Zitadelle Spandau, Berlin; Leonhardi Museum, Dresden; Art Forum, Helsinki; and Museum Ludwig, Köln, Germany, among others.
His works are included in internationally prestigious public and private collections including the Museum of Modern Art, Berlin; the Albertinum, Dresden; the Grassi Museum, Leipzig; the National Gallery, Berlin; and the National Art Museum of China, Beijing.
