Christopher Winter Kent, England, b. 1968
Lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
Winter attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, the Camberwell School of Art, London, and Hastings College of Arts. He has been Artist in Residence of the city of Mannheim, Germany and was a member of the London Art Collective, BANK, during the 1990s.
Winter’s work is influenced by literature, film, and politics, it portrays fictional as well as personal characters in series that deal with a specific issue. For example, his series "Virgin Forest" is based on the English and German fairy tales set deep in the woods.
He has had individual exhibits at Lehr Zeitgenössische Kunst in both Berlin and Cologne; at Anbacher Contemporary, Munich; Edelman Arts, New York; La Pagode, Paris; Städtisches Museum, Albstadt; Bauhaus Museum Dessau, among many others. He has also been part of group exhibits in Europe and United States of America.
Winter’s work is part of public and private collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, Photography and Architecture, Berlin; Berlinische Galerie Museum; Wilhelm-Hack Museum; and the Krystyna Gmurzynska, the Rothschild and the Borghese.
