Tomoaki Suzuki (2016): Centro Roberto Garza Sada de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño
Fundación Amparo y Manuel (AMMA) was pleased to present, for the very first time in Mexico and Latin America, the sculptural work of Japanese artist Tomoaki Suzuki (Japan, 1972; based in London), in collaboration with Centro Roberto Garza Sada. On that occasion, Fundación AMMA had the honor to show the work of Suzuki, and to collaborate with French curator Alexis Vaillant as guest-curator of the exhibition. While focusing on Suzuki’s work, this exhibition ambitioned to establish a dialogue between the exceptional architecture of Tadao Ando –winner of the 1995 Pritzker Prize and fellow countryman of the artist–, by presenting a selection of his stunning wooden sculptures, reliefs, and outdoor sculptures together, both inside and outside CRGS building. The exhibition highlighted the capacity of an artist to invert proportions, including those of the public.
