Nativity, Moments in Memory (2013): Museo Nacional de Culturas Populares
From December 12, 2013 to February 16, 2014.
The sister foundations Amparo y Manuel (AMMA) and Espinosa Rugarcía (ESRU), interested in the promotion of cultural values, presented the exhibition Nativity, Moments in Memory (Nacimiento, momentos en la memoria) at the Museo Nacional de Culturas Populares in Coyoacán, from December 12, 2013 to February 16, 2014.
The exhibition showed the "Nativity Amparo Espinosa Rugarcía" which presents fifty biblical passages from the Old and New Testaments, and by sound art by the artist Francisco Eme to complement the aesthetic experience.
The “Amparo Espinosa Rugarcía Nativity” was carried out by Felipe Nieva (Orizaba, Veracruz) when the Ashby family commissioned him to create representative figures of the Bible at the beginning of the 20th century.
The collection is made up of around 1,100 figurative-expressionist-style painted clay figures, represented with intense gestures, polychromy, and verisimilitude.
In 2013, the AMMA and ESRU foundations presented Nativity, Moments in Memory from a contemporary reading for the first time through its curatorship and museum installation.
